BankUnited cares about the safety and security of your financial data.
As you may know, online fraud is becoming more common as phishers and hackers develop more sophisticated scams. Because of the nature of the data they store, banks are obvious targets.
At BankUnited, we employ the highest levels of encryption software to protect your data. In addition, we will never ask for your credit card number, ATM PIN number or account number to validate your account. BankUnited will also never send out an e-mail requesting you click on a link and submit your user name, password, credit card, ATM PIN number or account number, nor will we send an e-mail requesting you to send any of this information back to us in a reply.
If you ever feel suspicious about activity on BankUnited's online site or a suspicious e-mail or if you believe you have provided personal or account information in response to a fraudulent e-mail or Web site, please contact BankUnited at (877) 779-BANK and any other financial institutions with which you have accounts.
You can also forward the e-mail the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov to report unwanted or deceptive spam. Be sure to include the full email header.
If you think you have been taken advantage of by a spam scam, file a complaint with the FTC online at www.ftc.gov. Complaints will help the FTC find and stop people who are using spam to defraud consumers.
Protecting customers every day...it's a local thing!
